Treatment
The laser targets only the pigmented area, which absorbs the light. The pigment heats up and shatters, without damaging the surrounding skin.
Fading
The shattered pigment is drawn to the surface. From there it fades, or dries and flakes off the treated area, leaving a more even tone.
Protection
Sun protection helps stop pigmentation from appearing or getting worse. Wear SPF 30 or higher, SPF 50 if you have fair skin, and avoid the sun between 10 am and 3 pm.

Why we choose the method for your skin tone

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to pigmentation. Lasers come in two types. Ablative lasers are the most intense and remove layers of skin. Non-ablative lasers work on the dermis to promote collagen and a tightening effect. Ablative lasers are stronger, but they may cause more side effects.

We treat most pigmentation on darker and tanned skin as well as on fair skin. At your free consultation we look at your skin and tell you plainly if yours is one we would not treat, and why. Skin tone matters. Ablative lasers may work better for people with fair skin, and for some people non-ablative lasers can cause skin to darken instead of lighten. This is why we assess your skin before recommending anything from our menu.
