How a carbon laser peel works

Consultation
We begin with a free 1-⁠on-⁠1 skin care consultation and recommend what suits your skin. If a carbon peel is not the right fit, we will say so.
Carbon
A dark, carbon-based lotion is massaged into your skin and left for a few minutes. It bonds to the oil, dirt and debris sitting in your pores.
Laser
The laser passes over your skin and breaks down the carbon, taking dead cells and debris with it. It also reaches the dermis, where it stimulates collagen.
Aftercare
Moisturize daily and wear SPF 30+ for several days. Avoid retinol for at least five days, and avoid exfoliating for at least one week. Some flaking or dryness for a few days is normal.

Skin types, soreness and what to plan for

The carbon laser peel is suitable for all skin types, and it is most useful when skin is already healthy or only mildly damaged. If the damage is more significant, we recommend starting with one of our tailored skin rejuvenation programs instead.

It is a superficial treatment that affects only the top layers of skin, so there is no traditional recovery period. You may feel a little sore and look red afterwards. This usually settles within a couple of hours and can last up to a day, so we suggest not booking it right before a big evening or an interview. Hold off on makeup until the redness has gone.

As with any treatment that works on the skin, there is a small risk of infection while it heals, which is why aftercare matters. Everyone's skin is different. We will talk about how many treatments you are likely to need before you start.
